System Support Specialist
Huntsville, AL 35808
Location : On-Site 24x7 Operations; occasional travel
Certification Requirement : Program specific, within 180 days of hire
Anakim Consulting Inc. has an opening for a System Support Specialist to support our work at the Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville. This position will support day-to-day operation and ongoing support for network services.
Description :
- Support integrated communications services for secure voice, video, and data solutions
- Provide troubleshooting assistance and problem resolution for computer systems including personal computers, mini / mainframe computers, client-servers, Local Area Networks (LANs), Wide Area Networks (WANs), and web pages.
Responsibilities include :
Use a variety of network management and diagnostic tools for monitoring and troubleshooting communication-related problemsMonitor and maintain Cisco Routers and Switches and Junipers RoutersSupport hardwareProvide support for real-time network and dataflow issuesSupport testing and implementation of new network servicesPosition Requirements
Basic Qualifications :
U.S. citizenshipAbility to obtain security access (Public Trust level)High School Diploma4 years of related experienceAbility to support 24x7 operation environment and work non-standard work hours / shiftsAvailability to support occasional travel for training (primarily during first year of employment)Experience with UNIX server administration including RedHat LINUX platformKnowledge of TCP / IP technologyKnowledge of IP Addressing and subnet maskingExcellent writing and oral communications skillsHands-on experience with standard industry products eg. Cisco, Juniper, and CienaEffective communicator and able to coordinate network and customer issues with other technical sectionsAbility to multi-task and respond quickly to real-time dataflow issuesKnowledge of Network Monitoring tools, eg. NNMi, Specturm, MRTG, CACTIExperience in supporting Wide Area Networking connectivityPreferred Qualifications :
Current CCNA, CCNP or JNCIA certificationKnowledge of LinuxKnowledge of normal trouble ticket processesKnowledge and hands on experience with data analyzers, network probes and other network diagnostic and performance measurement devicesExperience in performing traceroutes, executing ping testExperience in WAN protocols such as SONET and MPLSExperience working with Commercial Carrier service providers such as AT&T, VerizonKnowledgeable of transmission principals including T1, T3, DS-3 &OC-3 / 48Knowledge of serial interfaces including RS232, V.35 and RS 449Full-Time / Part-Time
