Description
AS&M has an exciting opportunity for a Engineering Design Drawing Checker to join the team in Houston, Texas.
This is a temporary role not to exceed 26 weeks.
Responsibilities
- Support NASA Johnson Space Center activities and various projects related to Aerospace and space exploration
- Work in a team environment to analyze requirements from the customer and develop design solutions
- Review engineering drawings to ensure conformance to JPR 8500 and other applicable standards
- Perform and/or review dimensional fit and tolerance analysis
- Review and mark-up drawings conforming to ASME Y14.5
- Review technical specifications, standards, and processes
- Review or 3D models, concepts and designs
- Support project meetings and create reports as required
- Produce/review other required design documentation
- Identify technical issues and suggest solutions
- Perform other duties as required
Qualifications
- Proof of U.S. Citizenship required for this position.
- Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.
Requisition Qualifications

- Typically requires a HS Diploma or its equivalent and a minimum of 4 years of experience in a field or in a related area.
- Must have the ability to produce/review drawings conforming to ASME Y14.5
- Must have experience using solid modeling CAD software including experience using PTC CREO or Pro -Engineering
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Proficient with MS Office Products
- Must have experience using Adobe Acrobat professional
- Capable of multi-tasking
Requisition Preferences
- Certification of two (2) years of training from a vocational training school or two (2) years of college with courses relevant to drafting or engineering principles, plus an additional four (4) years of relevant experience. Additional relevant education may be substituted for a portion of the progressive experience
- Familiarization with NASA/JSC Engineering Drawing System Manual (JPR 8500)
- Familiarization with NASA/JSC Fabrication Tolerances and Practices (SKZ36103755)
- Familiarization with AutoCAD and Solidworks
- Six (6) years of experience designing and/or reviewing flight hardware and creating/reviewing drawings for NASA/JSC
- Six (6) years of experience using PTC CREO
Work Environment
Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task.
Physical Requirements
Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of time).
Equipment and Machines
Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, printer, etc.).
Attendance
Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical. Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.
