What are the responsibilities and job description for the Engineering Drawing Checker position at Integra Mission Critical LLC?
The Engineering Drawing Checker will be responsible for working with engineers and designers to correctly document complex mechanical and electro-mechanical systems, subsystems, and components. The candidate will interface with other members of the design team and other stakeholders to ensure project accuracy and success.
Primary Responsibilities
- Ensure the quality of the Technical Product Documentation by validating that all drawings are produced in accordance with both published national/international and company design standards in a timely fashion and are in line with project release schedule.
- Contribute to the identification of any technical nonconformances and recommend and/or proposed solutions to mitigate future occurrences
- Check and approve engineering drawings as they pertain to technical completeness, clarity, conformance with standards, dimensional accuracy and the correct specification of materials and processes
- Check and approve tolerance stack analyses for technical completeness and correctness
- Assist Design Group with promoting and developing a generally higher level of engineering drawing, GD&T and tolerance stack analysis skills across the team through one-to-one mentoring and group training activities when required
Professional Qualifications
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a design/manufacturing/inspection environment which required the use and interpretation of engineering drawings
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to manage one’s own workload and time
- Engineering drawing authoring or checking within a mechanical/structural/electrical design environment
- Working within an environment of continuous and rapid technical change
- A thorough technical understanding of mechanical, structural, electrical engineering drawing principles, including (but not limited to):
o Different drawing types and their usages.
o Theory and application of GD&T
o A thorough understanding of relevant industry standards.
o A thorough understanding of ASME Y14.5-2009 with a focus on understanding the fundamental differences that exist between Y14.5 & ISO GPS (ISO 14638) with the ability to spot subtle ASME vs ISO nuances in engineering drawings
o Sound experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint for example
