Qualifications:
- Qualified candidates must possess a Master’s Degree in Social Work with MDE temporary or full approval as a School Social Worker and demonstrate the following qualifications.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Regular and reliable in person attendance is an essential job function.
- Work with targeted student population on behavior issues
- Work with teaching staff in preparing and administering learning strategies focused on individual student needs to better behaviorally challenged student achievement.
- Knowledge of writing individualized behavior plans, mandatory.
- Skills in implementation of designed behavior plans.
- Ability to communicate the creation and implementation of individual behavior plans with teaching staff and assisting in the development of the skills and styles needed to enable successful administration by the instructor
- Administer both standardized and informal assessments (observations, interviews, etc.).
- Coordinate or serve as a member of diagnostic teams and education planning and placement committees, and provide and sociological assessments related to planning for children with adjustment problems.
- Excellent verbal and written language skills.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures and amounts; ability to compute percentages and to interpret graphs.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Personal computer skills necessary. Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory in specific field. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and the school community. Ability to speak clearly and concisely both in oral and written communication. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required talk or hear and sometimes traverse and sit. In case of emergency must be able to traverse about school campus and lead students to safety.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally push or lift up to 50 lbs. such as boxes of books and AV/laptop carts. The employee is directly responsible for safety, well-being, or work output of other people. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as to read handwritten or typed material, and the ability to adjust focus. The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff.
