What are the responsibilities and job description for the Respite Support Professional position at ANCHOR BEHAVIORAL SOLUTIONS LLC?
Purpose
The Respite Support Professional will assist individuals with intellectual disabilities in their community/residence. Services to these individuals may occur in their own homes or in their natural family homes. Support of these individuals will include a variety of tasks and activities.
Duties & Responsibilities
- To provide care for clients in their own home or outside their primary residence while their primary caregivers engage in activities, they find relaxing, entertaining, or restful
- Provide assistance as needed, and as appropriate in activities of daily living such as dressing, toileting, changing diapers, feeding, bathing, etc. This may require lifting and transferring in/out of a wheelchair, etc.
- Meal Preparation – the appropriate meal or snack which occurs during the respite session, as provided by the client’s family.
- Recreation – providing adaptive games and activities which offer a stimulation and enjoyable experience for the client during respite times.
- Follow individual plans of client to meet their objectives.
- Motivate and introduce clients to new activities in conjunction with goals.
- Assist in the development of the weekly activity schedules and community-based activities, based on individual preferences, needs, and their respite service plan
- Work flexible hours depending on family’s needs.
Documentation
- Document daily client observations/issues in client/s system, Rethink and, as needed, via email to applicable parties.
- Any other relevant documentation as required by Supervisor of his/her designee.
