Anchor Fabrication (formerly Quality Industries) has an immediate need for a Production Manager at our newest facility in Smithville, TN where we make truck service bodies for well-established OEMs under long term agreements.
This is a great opportunity for a self-motivated leader to play an instrumental role in the launch of more than a dozen new product lines over the coming months while leading the organization’s largest organic growth opportunity in history. We are in search of a leader who possesses a strong work ethic, boundless positive energy, and the ability to motivate and inspire others. The successful candidate must also have a thorough knowledge of manufacturing, the desire and capacity to learn the production system (Epicor 10), and the ability to set production attainment targets, clearly communicate those targets to our associates, and close the gaps through training, coaching, mentoring, and positive reinforcement.
The successful leader will be responsible for all production work centers in our Smithville plant, including lasers, press brakes, extrusion saw, manual and robot weld, metal finishing, powder coating, and final assembly.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Create daily attainment and production priority goals for each work center during the product launch phase (before all BOMs and methods are in the ERP system) to ensure the right jobs are run at the right time to achieve the attainment needed.
- Once the ERP system is fully up and running, manage production according to the production control dispatch, ensuring accurate and timely accounting of all jobs and inventory transactions.
- Identify skills gaps and training needs and work with associates to close those gaps through clear communication, training and development actions, positive reinforcement, and constraint removal to ensure the associate’s success.
- Maintain appropriate housekeeping standards and lead our Smithville 6S program.
- Allocate resources effectively and fully utilize assets to produce optimal results.
- Implement strategies in alignment with strategic initiatives and provide a clear sense of direction and focus.
- Develop systems and processes that track and optimize productivity and standards, metrics, and performance targets to ensure effective return on assets.
- Establish metrics that monitor overall plant performance for employee safety, production attainment, scrap/rework, overtime, adherence to internal quality standards, and efficiency.
- Control and minimize labor overtime, premium freight, and repair expenses.
- Other Duties as assigned.
Education and/or Experience
- Three (3) or more years progressive operations leadership in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills, which should include the ability to create and track metrics both graphically and in table form and analyze data to identify root cause and corrective actions using pivot tables and other data analysis tools.
- Demonstrated lean manufacturing experience is required, lean manufacturing certification(s) is/are preferred.
- A bachelor's degree or associate degree in industrial engineering, business administration, or a closely related field from an accredited college, or university is preferred.
