Set Up Technician for 1st shift, 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
Meet or exceed production deadlines by performing complex tooling set-up and removal. Meet or exceed all the standards of safety, quality, efficiency, machine up-time and scrap. Assist the plastics department in achieving its continuous improvement goals at a minimum cost to the company.

PRIMARY DUTIES
1. To comply with all Departmental, Company, State and Federal safety regulations.
2. Perform all set-up duties following the written procedure and safety guidelines. Direct the work in installation or removal of plastic thermoforming tooling from the machines. Coordinate with the production scheduling to optimize machine capacity. To assist in meeting or exceeding efficiency, utilization, scrap, quality, and safety goals.
3. Ensure all tooling components are complete and in good working order.
This includes but is not limited to:
a. Molds
b. Plugs
c. Cut Dies
d. Stainless Steel Strike Surfaces
e. Trim Station standoffs
f. Form Tooling and Assemblies
g. Trim Tooling and Assemblies
h. Knockout Tooling and Assemblies
i. Robotic End of Arm Tooling
4. Set-up technician to perform critical character analysis. This to include the visual, functional inspection. A comparison to the part drawing, specifications, signed sample and quality requirements for each production run is required. Upon satisfactory analysis a complete set of retains will be delivered to the Quality Department for 1st piece inspection.
5. Write work orders to ensure the tooling or machinery are in proper working order. Complete all necessary documentation utilizing departmental computer and associated materials.
6. Assist Operators with scrap and roll changes.
7. Assist Tool Crib as needed (after applicable training received).
9. Perform preventive maintenance duties on machines as per schedule, including cleaning, etc.
10. Maintain training on Lockout/Tagout, normal operating procedures, and other safety standards.
11. Resolve safety concerns or refer them to your supervisor.
12. All other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
Outstanding mechanical skills.
High safety standards.
Associates Degree or Continuing Education Certificate is preferred but not required.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Self motivation.
Ability to teach.
Patience in dealing with people and problems on the equipment.
Must have a understanding of all GMP, AIB, and ISO procedures.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE (but are not limited to):
STANDING: Must be able to stand for a full shift.
BENDING: Must be able to reach into equipment, often at awkward angles.
REACHING: Must be able to reach high and low on the machines in order to do set-up and troubleshooting.
LIFTING: Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds.
MANUAL Must be able to use hand tools to do installations and adjustments on equipment.
DEXTERITY: Must be able to make fine adjustments and measure accurately.
VISUAL: Must be able to detect problems with the machines and parts, which may be quite subtle.
SPEECH: Must be able to communicate with utility, other set-up technicians, engineers and Leads.
HEARING: Must be able to listen for machine malfunctions and to hear operators over the noise of the machines.
