Culturally-Specific Peer Support Specialist / Community Health Wkr

RESPONSIBILITIESProvide services, within a set scope of practice, to clients from diverse cultural backgrounds.Develop and maintain positive, supportive relationships with clients.Assist clients in identifying and working towards their personal, family, health, and / or recovery goals.Advocate for clients' needs and rights within the community and healthcare systems.Offer culturally sensitive resources and referrals to clients and their families.Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate care and support for clients.Maintain accurate and timely documentation of client interactions and progress.Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with best practices in peer support and cultural competency.REQUIREMENTSHigh School Diploma or equivalentOHA Certification as a Peer Support Specialist, Community Health Worker, Peer Wellness Specialist, or equivalent training.Lived experience as a member of the Black, African, and / or Latino communities, or strong cultural competency in serving these populations.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to build trust and rapport with clients from diverse backgrounds.Strong advocacy and problem-solving skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Valid drivers license and ability to travel within the community as needed.Ability to pass a criminal history background check.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSExperience working in mental health or social services.Familiarity with community resources and support networks for the Black, African, and / or Latino communities.Bilingual or multilingual abilities, particularly in Spanish, Swahili, or other languages spoken by the target population.If you are passionate about supporting the growth and well-being of individuals and you meet the requirements and qualifications, then we encourage you to apply for this rewarding position.
