Andaz Miami Beach is now recruiting a Banquet Captain to join the hotel’s opening team. An art-deco building and architectural landmark is home to the newest luxury lifestyle hotel located in the heart of Mid-beach. Opening in early 2025, the property boasts 287 guestrooms including 34 breathtaking suites and the ONLY Ocean-view arrival experience in Miami Beach. The design features elements of texture, art, and pops of color that create a unique and captivating experience. Each suite is designed with floor-to-ceiling windows, most with deep-soaking tubs, and cozy reading nooks. Guests can also enjoy private outdoor terraces with stunning views of the Atlantic and the Miami skyline. Position Summary
The Banquet Captain is responsible for making the function space visually appealing and presenting the menu offering for the event. This may include linen and table setting, food station design, and beverage service. Other duties include oversight of the general event preparation, room refreshes, and maintaining a sanitary environment. This person may assist in scheduling required staff for event functions.

Position Responsibilities/ Essential Functions
- Assist Banquet Manager in the serving of guests during functions to ensure a positive guest experience.
- Assist Manager with scheduling of required shifts.
- Set up event room as requested by the supervisor to include glassware, service ware, linen
- Attend pre-shift before events begin in order to learn function particulars, including hotel and guest expectations
- Greet and welcome guests and respond to their requests in a courteous and friendly manner
- Serve the beverage and food in the appropriate order to ensure consistency throughout the banquet
- Ensure the quick removal of dishes as guests finish each meal or function
- Abide by all corporate act, laws and requirements pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages
- Replenish beverages when necessary, and check with guests to make sure they are satisfied
- After the function, reset event room in accordance with the Manager’s specifications to ensure the readiness of the room for other functions
- Coach and counsel employees to reflect Hyatt service standards and procedures
- Conduct or ensure all Training and Evaluations are completed as required by Hyatt
- Mentor, motivate and teach staff to ensure success; resolve any issues that occur on the job
- Perform other related functions that may be assigned.
Team Leader – Banquet Requirements and Qualifications
- A minimum of a Diploma in Hospitality/ Tourism Management or a relevant field;
- 2 years or more of progressive Hotel experience and a thorough understanding of all levels of banquet service. Previous experience as a Banquet Manager/Assistant, Banquet Supervisor or Banquet Supervisor preferred.
- Ability to speak a second Language fluently will be considered an asset.
- Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Suite applications;
- Refined verbal and written communication skills;
- Physically agile, ability to stand or walk for long periods of time;
- Excellent time management and organizational skills;
- Excellent problem solving skills.

- Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with people of diverse socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds
- Full flexibility, including the ability to work weekends and holidays and a varied schedule
