Anderson Airmotive Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and technically proficient Project Engineer, Electromechanical to join our dynamic team. In this pivotal role, you will support Anderson Airmotive Inc. and its sister companies within the aircraft ground support equipment (GSE) industry. The position offers a unique opportunity to collaborate with global teams and departments across the group of companies affiliated with Anderson Airmotive Inc., contributing to innovative projects that drive our collective success.
We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer with 3–5 years of experience. The ideal candidate will have a background in mechanical or electromechanical engineering, with experience in manufacturing environments, 3D modeling (SolidWorks or similar), FEA simulations, and R&D activities including experimental setups and data analysis. This role provides a unique opportunity to work closely with cross-functional teams in a hands-on production setting, contributing to innovative engineering solutions within a facility that utilizes well-established, proven equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Product Design & Development
- Design and develop mechanical and electromechanical components using 3D modeling, including detailed drawings to GD&T specifications. The scope of this work includes the tooling required to manufacture products (molds, core tooling, etc) and the parts and materials that are used in the products we manufacture.
- Perform FEA simulations and analyze results to optimize designs.
- Conduct R&D activities, including setting up experiments, collecting and processing data, and generating technical reports.
- Support improvements for legacy products through enhancements and failure analysis.
- Ensure all product designs are manufacturable and compliant with SAE Specifications and that all tooling designs are aligned with production capabilities, considering the use of well-established equipment. Designs must consider both hot and cold dimensions and synthetic rubber shrink factors.
2. Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Engineering, Sales, Sourcing, and Manufacturing teams to ensure project alignment and timely delivery.
- Coordinate with global teams to share knowledge and best practices and investigate field problems.
3. Manufacturing & Production Support
- Provide engineering support for production and manufacturing processes at the Fall River site.
- Develop manufacturing procedures and work instructions for new and upgraded products and update legacy product documentation.
- Adapt engineering solutions to work effectively with production equipment.
- Troubleshoot and resolve production equipment problems as they occur and work with manufacturing team members to complete routine maintenance and planned equipment upgrades and refurbishments.
- Emphasize safety and compliance with industry standards throughout all design and production activities.
- Lead investigation of field issues and work with customers to resolve problems.
4. Customer & Stakeholder Engagement
- Communicate technical details to customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
- Assist sales teams by providing technical insights for customer inquiries and product promotions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- 3–5 years of experience in mechanical design, preferably in manufacturing or production settings.
- Proficiency in 3D modeling, FEA simulations, GD&T, and detail drawings.
- Experience in R&D environments, including experimental setups, data collection, and analysis.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Desired qualifications include familiarity with industry-specific standards and the certification and qualification process.
- Ability to adapt engineering designs and solutions for use with existing production equipment and identify and integrate new equipment.
- Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally, approximately 10–15%.
