TITLE : Payroll and Benefits Coordinator
REPORTS TO : Chief Financial Officer
JOB SUMMARY : Performs payroll and benefit functions to support the Finance Department of the District.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES 1. Prepares all semi-monthly district payrolls.
2. Maintains all payroll and benefit functions in accounting software.
3. Prepares deductions, including preparations of all reports : retirement, social security, unemployment, W-2, federal and state.
4. Updates and maintains salary and benefit information for employees in accounting software and personnel files.
5. Prepares and reconciles payroll liabilities.
6. Maintains and reconciles employee attendance.
7. Reconciles all bills relating to employee benefits.
8. Discusses Retirement Options with Employees.
9. Reports final wages upon retirement of employees.
10. Deliver new hire packets to new employees.
11. Meet with new employees to go over payroll and benefits.
12. Work with Third Party Benefit Plan Administrator on supplementary benefits for employees.
13. Maintains employee leave including, but not limited to, Personal Leave, Sick Leave, FMLA Eligibility, etc.
14. Coordinate and Communicate District Sick Bank
15. Helps prepare monthly financial statements.
16. Assists Chief Financial Officer with budget preparation.
17. Maintains SC Educator Database.
18. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS 1. Associates Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration or an Equivalent Combination of Education and Experience that Provides the Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
2. Payroll and / or Benefits Experience Preferred
3. Governmental Accounting Experience Preferred
4. Strong Communication and Interpersonal Skills
5. Strong Attention to Detail
6. Strong Ability to Learn Software Programs and System Processes
7. Skilled Knowledge in Accounting Procedures, Payroll, and Taxes
8. Knowledge and Experience in the Administration of Employee Benefits
Additional Information
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT : 240 days. Salary to be determined by the salary schedule established by the Anderson School District Three Board of Trustees.
EVALUATION : Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with the provisions of the board's policy on Evaluation of Noncertified Personnel
