Nurse Practitioner - Ambulatory Care Specialist
The Nurse Practitioner - Ambulatory Care Specialist plays a vital role in promoting and maintaining health by providing safe and effective medical services under the supervision of a physician or surgeon. As a member of the healthcare team, this specialist takes medical histories, examines and treats patients, orders and interprets laboratory tests and x-rays, and makes diagnoses. The ability to treat minor injuries is also a key responsibility.
Service standards are paramount in this role, with a focus on customer-centricity, anticipating customer needs, adhering to customer service standards, and treating coworkers and customers with dignity and respect. In addition, the specialist must be competent, caring, and compassionate in their interactions with patients and coworkers.
The key responsibilities of this position include contributing to the effectiveness of physicians, assessing patient health, determining abnormal conditions, prescribing medications, documenting patient care, and maintaining a safe and clean working environment.
For this role, we require a Master's Degree in Nursing and certification as a nurse practitioner from one of the recognized certifying bodies. Licensure to practice in the State of Illinois, Controlled Substance License, and DEA preference are also necessary. Experience as a nurse practitioner is preferred, but not required.
