What are the responsibilities and job description for the Grounds Worker with Equipment Maintenance Emphasis position at Andover Public Schools?
- Have relevant grounds experience and/or maintenance in a comparable work environment.
- High School Diploma or equivalent. Be able to read, write, and comprehend written and oral instructions.
- Have a valid State of Kansas Driver’s License.
- Possesses a work ethic that is strongly oriented toward both efficiency and customer service.
- Meet all job standards in a time sensitive manner as determined by Supervisor.
- Ability to work unsupervised or within a team. Demonstrate ability to meet quality and quantity standards and on time requirements.
- Meet District grooming and interpersonal standards.
- Meet all District safety requirements.
- Be able to work 40-hour workweek; setup for activities shall include some evening and weekend events.
- Be willing and able to work overtime including some evenings and weekends.
- Mow and trim assigned areas, which includes weeding, edging, and push mowing.
- Ensure mowers and grounds equipment are maintained.
- Seed/sod areas as needed.
- Mark Athletic Fields as required. Clean up trash as needed district wide.
- Set-up for Athletic Events as required.
- Apply Lawn Chemicals as required.
- Perform minor maintenance (routine painting, plumbing, and electrical repairs.)
- Assist Custodians with lunch set ups/clean ups when required.
- Assist in moving, hauling and rearranging furniture as required.
- Remove snow/ice from parking lots and sidewalks as needed.
- Complete work orders as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Manage job requirements with physical mobility to move from place to place (walking, standing, stooping, pushing, pulling, kneeling, crawling, turning, reaching, climbing, balancing, lift up to 60 pounds on a daily basis), and use large, heavy equipment.
- Must work in and around dust, fumes and odors.
- Must work in noisy and crowded environments, with numerous interruptions.
- Must work indoors and outdoors year-round in a variety of temperatures/conditions.

Job Goal: Keep all assigned facilities mowed, edged, and trimmed. Paint/stripe athletic practice fields for each season (district-wide) and prep baseball/softball fields for games during the season. Clean up after outside events. Perform routine maintenance and repairs on mowers, weed eaters, leaf blowers, and other equipment as.
