What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Controller position at ANDRES Construction?
We are seeking a dynamic Assistant Controller with experience in the construction industry to join our team. This role will be responsible for managing the financial reporting, work in progress (WIP), and general accounting activities for the various entities of ANDRES.
Assistant Controller Responsibilities:
- In this role you will oversee the monthly close process for A/P, A/R, job cost, and general ledger.
- Produce financial statements in accordance with GAAP principles including the consolidation of multiple entities.
- Prepare and review monthly accounting entries and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Maintain accounting schedules for fixed assets, rent, prepaids and other items.
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
- Manage external audits and reviews including preparing work papers and responding to auditor inquiries.
- Oversee treasury management, bank account reconciliations, and payroll processes to ensure compliance.
- Manage the Sage 300 ERP system and various accounting programs (invoicing, receipts, etc.) to ensure proper coordination.
- Participate in the ongoing strategic planning process and provide recommendations to enhance financial performance.
- Assist the CFO and Controller in the management of the accounting department while providing leadership and mentorship to the accounting staff.
Assistant Controller Education and Experience Requirements:
- 5 years of overall combined accounting and finance experience with a focus on construction accounting (required).
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (required).
- Experience in construction accounting (preferred).
- Prior experience with construction accounting ERPs preferably Sage 300.
- Prior experience with ESOPs is desired but not required.
- CPA required.
