What are the responsibilities and job description for the Residential House Parent position at Andrew Osborne Academy?
Andrews Osborne Academy is seeking Residential House Parents to join our dynamic Residential Life Team for the 2025-2026 academic year.
As a Residential House Parent, you will help shape the boarding experience for our students, creating a home away from home. You’ll be a mentor, a role model, and a guiding adult presence, responsible for fostering a safe, caring, and engaging environment within your assigned residence hall.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as a constant, visible presence in the residence hall during scheduled duty nights
- Create and maintain a positive, structured, and inclusive house culture
- Oversee daily and nightly nightly responsibilities (3-day on, 3-day off, rotation with co-House Parent)
- Ensure student safety and well-being, managing emergencies and enforcing residential policies
- Implement programs and house activities in line with the school’s Residential Curriculum
- Conduct weekly cleaning inspections, curfew checks, and community meetings
- Administer student medication as needed (training provided)
- Monitor travel, check-ins/outs, and attendance using Orah (residential software)
- Support students’ emotional and social needs; refer concerns to counseling or Health Services
- Collaborate with Residential Life staff, faculty, and student leaders to support overall student development
- Maintain a house that is clean, organized, and ready for visits or tours at any time
Who You Are:
- A caring, responsible adult who loves mentoring and supporting high school students
- Experienced in working with youth in educational, residential, or camp settings
- Highly organized, dependable, and flexible
- Calm under pressure and able to respond to emergencies
- Tech-savvy and comfortable using platforms like Orah and G-chat for communication and reporting
- Willing to live on campus and work evening/night shifts on a rotating basis
Bonus Points If You Have:
- Experience in boarding schools or residential programs
- A background in education, social work, counseling, or student life
- First aid/CPR certification (or willingness to be trained)
