Duties
- Assist veterinarians during examinations and surgical procedures.
- Perform routine laboratory tests, including blood work and urinalysis.
- Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as prescribed by the veterinarian.
- Monitor animal patients before, during, and after surgical procedures.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation for each patient.
- Provide education to pet owners regarding animal care and health maintenance.
- Handle and restrain animals safely during examinations and treatments.
- Prepare animals for surgery, including anesthesia administration and catheterization.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the clinic or hospital environment.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of animal care principles and practices.
- Familiarity with animal anatomy, veterinary terminology, and dental terminology.
- Proficient in animal handling techniques for various species, including equine.
- Experience in dog training is a plus.
- Ability to perform animal catheterization procedures effectively.
- Excellent communication skills to interact with pet owners and team members.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow protocols accurately.
