What are the responsibilities and job description for the Veterinary Technician AND/OR Veterinary Assistant position at Animal Eye Center?
Animal Eye Center is hiring for 2-3 positions - we are looking for positive, professional, energetic and motivated registered veterinary technicians as well as a non-registered veterinary assistants to join our team! We are a busy ophthalmology specialty hospital with three doctors providing exceptional ophthalmic medical care with outstanding customer service.
- Both positions are full-time, with a 4-day work week. $21-$28/hr ($39k - $52k per year)
- Our clinic hours are M-F 7:30 - 5 (No Saturdays).
Essential Position Functions:
- Supporting patient examinations and procedures by assembling required supplies and instruments, taking patient histories and basic diagnostics in exam rooms, and restraining patients for the veterinarian.
- Caring for patients by collecting samples, administering medications, Placing IV catheters, and running anesthesia.
- Filling prescriptions and administering medications, including proper documentation, logging, and security of controlled drugs.
- Maintaining a safe, secure and healthy environment by cleaning, wrapping and sterilizing instruments, sanitizing and disinfecting holding and operating areas.
- Maintaining medical records by documenting patient conditions, reactions, and changes; update the database in an accurate and timely manner.
- Communicating with pet owners about the status and care of the patients, providing client education and discharging patients after examinations and surgeries.
- Answering phones, scheduling appointments and performing other duties as needed by the hospital.
Qualifications:
- Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) with current active license in CO or ability to transfer license to CO.
- Experience with veterinary appointments, surgeries, and nursing care for hospitalized patients.
- Veterinary Assistant should have a combination of education, training, and/or experience.
