Duties
- Perform grooming services including bathing, brushing, trimming, and nail clipping for various breeds of dogs and cats.
- Assess the condition of pets' coats and skin to determine appropriate grooming techniques.
- Provide exceptional customer service by communicating effectively with pet owners about their pets' needs and grooming options.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the grooming area, ensuring all tools and equipment are sanitized after each use.
- Handle pets safely and comfortably during grooming sessions, employing proper dog handling techniques.
- Monitor pets for any signs of health issues or discomfort during grooming; report any concerns to pet owners or veterinary staff as necessary.
- Assist in other areas of the facility as needed, including kennel duties or animal care support.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in pet grooming or related fields such as veterinary assistant or veterinary technician is preferred but not required.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with pet owners.
- Knowledge of dog handling techniques and animal care practices is essential.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting as required when handling larger breeds or moving equipment.
- Familiarity with pet care products and grooming tools is advantageous.
- A genuine love for animals and a commitment to their well-being is a must.
- Certification in pet grooming or related training is a plus but not mandatory.
