Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Veterinary Assistant to join our team in providing exceptional care for animals in a veterinary clinic setting. Duties
- Assist veterinarians during examinations and procedures, ensuring the comfort and safety of the animals.
- Handle and restrain animals for examinations, treatments, and procedures.
- Administer medications as directed by the veterinarian, including oral, topical, and injectable medications.
- Provide basic pet care, including feeding, bathing, and grooming as needed.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization within the clinic, including sterilizing instruments and cleaning exam rooms.
- Prepare laboratory samples for testing and assist with laboratory procedures.
- Monitor animal vital signs during critical care situations and provide support as needed.
- Assist with animal catheterization when required.
- Communicate effectively with pet owners regarding their animals’ health and treatment plans.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a veterinary clinic or animal care setting is preferred but not required.
- Strong skills in animal handling, particularly with dogs and other small animals.
- Knowledge of medication administration techniques is a plus.
- Familiarity with veterinary critical care practices is advantageous.
- Ability to work well in a team environment while demonstrating compassion for animals and their owners.
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with clients and team members.
- A commitment to maintaining high standards of hygiene and safety within the clinic.
