What are the responsibilities and job description for the Facility Maintenance position at Animal World and Snake Farm?
Join the dynamic exhibit construction and maintenance team at Animal World and Snake Farm Zoo! We are seeking a dedicated individual who is ready to contribute to the maintenance and development of our unique zoo facility. This is a hands-on position that requires physical strength, basic tool knowledge, and a strong work ethic, as well as strong organizational skills.
Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance on company equipment (e.g., changing air filters, oil, making small repairs).
- Troubleshoot and repair equipment as needed (e.g., small machinery, oil and filter changes, etc).
- Make minor repairs and perform preventative maintenance to facility (e.g., pulleys, broken doors, lubricate locks, replace woodwork).
- Rebuild and repair wooden, metal, or block and concrete structures and complete other odd jobs.
- Maintain cleanliness of work and storage areas (e.g., tool storage, workshop, work area etc).
- Keep tools clean, organized and in good working order
- Lift and move heavy objects, weighing over 50lbs, ensuring the safety and efficiency of construction tasks.
- Utilize basic tools for various maintenance projects, including concrete, welding, woodwork, plumbing, and landscaping.
- Work collaboratively with the construction team to achieve project goals.
- Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a secure work environment.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Occasionally work on weekends, with a minimum commitment of 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday.
- Communicate effectively through email.
Qualifications:
- Ability to lift and carry items weighing over 50lbs.
- Basic knowledge of construction tools and equipment.
- Successful completion of a drug screen and background check.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including occasional weekends.
- Concrete, welding, plumbing, and wood working skills are a plus.
- Strong team player with excellent communication skills.
- Reliability and commitment to meeting project deadlines.
- Strong management and organization skills
Compensation:
The starting pay for this position is $18-22 per hour, with opportunities for growth based on performance and experience. Room for growth in compensation is subject to performance evaluations and the successful completion of the probationary period.
*Salaried positions are also available for select candidates/Foremen proficient in their trades.
