SUMMARY: |
As a valued member of our finance team, Anixter Center’s Grants Manager is responsible for writing and submitting grant applications, facilitating the administrative and technical functions associated with grants, contracts and other agreements from internal and external funding sources. This includes management pertaining to grant proposals, applications, compliance, contract negotiations, budgeting and disbursement, monitoring, reporting and evaluation. The position acts as a liaison between program staff, project directors, post-award, and granting agencies or sponsors. |
ESSENTIAL DUTIES: |
- Manage the full range of activities required to prepare, submit, and manage grant proposals to foundations, corporations, and government agencies (pre-award through post-award). This includes serving as lead writer and editor for assigned grants and coordinating review of each grant with key staff to match the program/project narratives to the stated outlined requirements of each funding opportunity;
- Collaborate with colleagues across Anixter Center to transform ideas into successful grant submissions by translating program and project concepts into persuasive written proposals that resonate with funders, showcasing program effectiveness and compelling outcomes. This includes collaborating on developing literature reviews on relevant topics and evidence-based models relating to the programs and services with which respective colleagues are involved;
- Conduct ongoing prospective research and analysis of new grant opportunities (government, foundation, corporate) through review on relevant websites as well as direct communication with funders and organizational staff by emails, phone calls, meetings, etc. This includes ensuring that proposals are developed that meet guidelines and/or initiative requirements;
- As a partner within Anixter Center assist with the implementation of awarded grants as well as assist staff in developing reports that adhere to all requirements and deadlines of a grant/contract and that clearly delineate the positive outcomes achieved through each grant. This includes working with accounting staff to monitor the grant/contract budget and create financial reports in the format required for a specific grant/contract;
- Maintain a work plan and calendar of planned grant submissions to ensure application cycles and reporting deadlines are organized and accessible to Anixter Center colleagues;
- Maintain an efficient, organized electronic and hard copy filing system for past and present grants, including overseeing long-term storage of grant records.
- Serves as an articulate, enthusiastic, and visible spokesperson for Anixter.
- Participates in appropriate professional associations, local networking, and training opportunities.
- Actively participates and contributes to assigned committees.
- Other duties as business necessitates.
Time Allocation Anticipated - Development of new grant activities and materials (Approximately 50% of time)
- Implement and administer organizational grant development for current grants and resubmissions (Approximately 35% of time)
- Administrative and operational support activities (Approximately 15% of time)

REQUIREMENTS |
- A Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of five years of experience in grants administration or the equivalent is required.
- Experience with State of Illinois contracting and procurement is strongly preferred.
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
- Strong affinity for Anixter’s mission, vision and values.
- Ability to conduct research, gather data, analyze information, and prepare effective, accurate, and time sensitive grant application.
- Detail-oriented with a solid ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Must be able to work collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Proficiency in MS Office is required, particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook.
