English as a Second Language (ESL) Teacher
Purpose Statement
The purpose of an English as a Second Language (ESL) teacher is to instruct non-English speaking individuals on the fundamentals of the English language so that they can communicate with others. This includes organizing courses for non-native speakers with diverse activities and methods that cover all aspects of the English language (speaking, writing, and comprehending). As a teacher in our school, you'll create individualized educational plans based on each student's needs.

Minimum Qualifications :
- Meet teacher certification requirements and English as a K-12 Second Language (ESL) of the Department of Education, State of Iowa
- Successful experience in teaching secondary students learning English as a second language
- Previous experience in collaborating with department / grade level teams to support English Learners
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable

The usual and customary methods of performing the position functions require the following physical demands : significant lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, reaching, driving, standing and walking.
