Responsibilities and Duties Clinical
Prepares patients for examination by taking vitals; recording medical history into Epic· Escorting patients to and from exam rooms· Complying with OSHA and HIPPA regulations· Schedules surgeries by making arrangements with the surgical centers; verifying times with patients; preparing charts, pre-admission and consent forms· Help the physician with procedures· Give patients injections as directed by the physician· Casting for Orthotics· Applying Below knee cast· Appling Low Dying strapping to feet· Appling Unna Boots· Performing Nail Debridement· Performing Callus/Corn debridement· · Performing X-Rays· Documenting phone calls· Updating Logs
Scribe Duties:
1. Accurately and thoroughly document medical visits and procedures as they are being performed by the physician, including but not limited to:
· Patient medical history and physical exams
· Procedures and treatments performed by healthcare professionals
· Patient education
· Medical Terminology
· Efficient typing skills
· Physician-dictated diagnoses, prescriptions and instructions for patient or family members for self-care and follow-up
2. Paper Work
· Completing various forms, including; Physical Therapy, MRI, Surgery
· Completing Super bills
· Completing Letters (employment, school excuses)
3. Dropping Charges
· Coding/Charge Entry
Medical Scribes also identity inconsistencies in medical documentation and check to correct the information in order to reduce errors. Medical Scribes ensure that all clinical data, lab or other test results, the interpretation of the results by the physician are recorded accurately in the medical record. Alert physician when chart is incomplete.
Good judgment, organizational ability, initiative, attention to detail, and the ability to be self-motivated are especially important when working as a Medical Scribe. Ability to be adaptable and versatile due to being responsible for many tasks. Any other duties determined appropriate by management.
Position Purpose
A podiatry medical assistant's responsibilities may include ordering, sorting, storing supplies and restocking exam rooms. Cleaning exam areas, setting up instruments and equipment and cleaning the sterilizer. Greeting patients, answering the office phones, performing data entry and scheduling appointments, assisting front office staff if and when needed and manual insurance verifications. Any other duties determined appropriate by management.
Medical Scribes are individuals who assist a physician throughout their shift. The primary goal of a Medical Scribe is to increase the efficiency and the productivity of the physician they are working for. The Medical Scribe allows the doctor to focus on what is most important, the patient. Performing all clerical and information technology functions for a physician in a clinic setting. This includes primary responsibility of the operation of the electronic health records.
You also must be able to anticipate physician needs in order to facilitate the flow of clinic. Medical Scribes must be discreet and tactful in performance of duties so as not to distract medical staff from patient care.
