- Masters Degree in Education, elementary administration preferable
- Minimum 5 years teaching and/or counseling experience at the elementary level preferred
- Advanced graduate work in administration, elementary supervision or curriculum development preferred
- Experience with IB Programme Standards and Practices including units of inquiry curriculum development, instruction and assessment is preferred.
- Ability to demonstrate sound reasoning, thinking, and collaboration skills
- Must hold a valid school administrator certificate or be enrolled in a program leading to certification as a school administrator not later than six months after beginning employment as required by Michigan Department of Education
- Valid Teaching Certificate with valid endorsement (elementary preferred)
- Meet requirements for Michigan administrative certification

The paired concept was implemented in September 1986 as a result of a reorganization throughout the School District. It draws students from several areas in southern Ann Arbor, creating a diverse and culturally rich community.
Pattengill serves children from third through fifth grade. Bryant serves children from preschool through second grade. This unique structure creates a rich learning opportunity, which allows us to focus on the distinct developmental needs of our future leaders. With over 30 different languages spoken among Bryant and Pattengill families, they are truly an international school. Bryant and Elementary schools are in candidacy to become International Baccalaureate (IB) world schools.
