Childrens Surgery Program Manager
Full time, salaried position.
Manages the coordination of the quality program of the Surgical and Procedural Services department. This includes but is not limited to overseeing coordination of the American College of Surgeons™ Verification of Quality Improvement program. The position actively supports the Hospital’s and department’s safety, quality and service excellence goals through modeling appropriate behavior and by providing a work environment conducive to these goals.

Job Description
Childrens Surgery Program Manager
Full time, salaried position.
Manages the coordination of the quality program of the Surgical and Procedural Services department. Min Quals:
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing or higher required.
- Master’s prepared or currently in a Master’s program preferred
- Current licensure as a registered nurse in the State of Illinois required.
- 5 years of pediatric nursing experience required, to include at least 2 years of nursing leadership experience, preferred.
- Prior experience along continuum of care, preferred.
- Basic Life Support, PALS and ANCC recognized certification must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
- Must evidence a minimum of 16 hours (internal or external of surgical services related continuing education and clinical experience in the care of children with surgical needs).
- Strong communication and organizational skills required. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Must be detail-oriented and flexible, with ability to work well with a wide variety of internal and external colleagues, study sponsors, staff, medical providers, patients and families.
- Coordinates management across the continuum of children’s surgical care, which includes planning and implementation of clinical protocols and practice management guidelines, monitoring care of in-hospital patients and serving as a resource for clinical practice
- Provides the intra-facility and regional professional staff development, participate in case review, implement practice guidelines, and direct community education programs.
- Monitors clinical processes and outcomes and system issues related to the quality of care provided; develop quality filters, audits, and case reviews; identify trends and sentinel events; and helps outline remedial actions while maintaining confidentiality.
- Manages, as appropriate, the operational, personnel, and financial aspects of the children’s surgery program. Serves as a liaison to administration, and represent the children’s surgery program on various hospital and community committees to enhance and foster optimal care management.
- Supervises collection, coding, and developing processes for validation of data. Designs and oversees the data collection to facilitate performance improvement activities, trend reports, and research while protecting confidentiality.
- Stabilizes the complex network of many disciplines that work in concert to provide high-quality children’s surgical care. Serve as an internal resource for staff in all departments, and act as an extended liaison for other system entities.
- Participates in research projects, analysis, and distribution of findings. Facilitates protocol design for accurate data collection, feedback and analysis, and understand the requirements of research oversight.
- Participates in the development of children’s surgical care systems at the community, state, provincial, or national levels.
