What are the responsibilities and job description for the Caregiver for Child with Special Needs position at Anna Tulou?
Home Health Aide for 8 year old - after school hours during the week, with some evenings and at least a couple weekends a month - especially need coverage on Sundays. (Full day-time hours are also available on school holidays and during summer). This schedule can be covered between 2 or more caregivers, so we can be flexible! Start date as soon as possible, we especially still need coverage on Sundays, plus other days/evenings.
Looking for a friendly, patient, committed individual, preferably with experience caring for children, to work with our son in our home in the Short Pump area of Richmond. This would be an excellent experience for someone interested in PT, OT, and special needs - he has cerebral palsy, epilepsy (controlled with medication), and intellectual disability. He is a really special and happy little boy and needs someone who will give him focused time and attention to help him learn and grow. Duties to include:
- Helping him with his physical therapy exercises and learning activities
- Accompanying him to activities/appointments (occasional)
- Feeding him and preparing food
- Assisting with toileting
- Bathing
- Playing with him!
- Assisting him while walking (60 pounds)
- Other non-medical tasks related to his overall care
Good communication skills, positive attitude, reliability, and attentiveness are important. Must have own reliable transportation. We are a warm, welcoming, safe, and fun household. We can train the right person!
