A growing, successful, 30-year distributor in North Miami with a healthy, friendly culture seeks an experienced, professional Accountant to join its team. This is a hands-on position requiring A/P, A/R, payroll, bookkeeping, analytical and process improvement skills. Job Duties
- Process payments and invoices, ensuring accuracy and adherence to company policies and procedures while maintaining positive relationships and minimizing late fees
- Reconcile accounts to assert the accuracy of transactions, resolve discrepancies, and address outstanding balances
- Maintain an accurate record of financial transactions
- Update and maintain the general ledger
- Prepare and review financial documents for accuracy and completeness, such as invoices, purchase orders, and payment vouchers
- Collect, analyze and summarize data for tax forms according to local and federal mandates
- Review and verify vendor records, ensuring compliance with contractual terms and conditions
- Respond to inquiries from vendors and customers regarding billing, payments, and account information
- Use knowledge of local laws to comply with reporting requirements
- Ensure the accuracy of financial information by conducting regular audits and reconciliations
- Prepare and submit sales tax returns in compliance with regulatory requirements
- Assist in creating budgets, financial forecasts, quarterly and annual reports
- Utilize the appropriate accounting software to manage and automate financial tasks when relevant
- Prepare reports for management, providing insights on cash flow, aging balances, and financial performance
- Streamline accounting processes, improving efficiency and accuracy
- Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed
- Maintain organized filing systems, ensuring easy retrieval and compliance with record-keeping requirements
Skills and Knowledge
- A general understanding of the main accounting principles and basic knowledge of GAAP
- Knowledge of QuickBooks and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel and Word
- Knowledge of relevant tax requirements and how to prepare basic tax documentation
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with keen attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
- Proficient in time management, capable of meeting deadlines and prioritizing tasks
- Analytical and detail-oriented, ensuring accuracy in financial transactions and records
- Self-starter, taking the initiative to address issues and improve processes
- Able to multitask and prioritize, managing multiple responsibilities and deadlines effectively
- Excellent time management skills, maintaining productivity in a fast-paced environment
- Can work under pressure, maintaining composure and delivering accurate results
- Strong interpersonal skills, fostering positive working relationships with colleagues and external parties
Education and Requirements
- 3 years previous bookkeeping or accounting experience
- Associate’s degree required, Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred
- CPA is a plus
