Job Title: Domestic Violence Outreach Coordinator
Department: Outreach
Schedule: 40-hour work week, primarily Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Supervisor: Program Director
General Description: The Domestic Violence Outreach Coordinator (DVOC) supports and oversees services provided by an assigned team of domestic violence outreach advocates. The DVOC will provide administrative and program support, and limited direct services to victims and survivors of domestic violence through crisis intervention, legal advocacy, inter-agency advocacy, and coordination of services with external providers. The Domestic Violence Outreach Coordinator raises community awareness about the effects of domestic violence through outreach efforts and specialized workshops; establishes new and maintains existing partnerships with agency and systems partners; ensures programmatic compliance through program reporting and supports the development of the domestic violence program through participant and community surveying.
Key Responsibilities:
- Directly supervises and builds the capacity of a team of outreach advocates, providing guidance in all aspects of their work through reflective supervision, case staffing, and field training.
- Provide limited advocacy services to victims of domestic violence at any stage of the criminal or civil justice process.
- Performs crisis intervention for participants, including completing needs assessment, personalized safety planning, explaining victim rights, individual counseling, and general emotional support.
- Systematically increase outreach services to survivors of violence[PL1]
- Foster and maintain community partnerships; serve as an outreach liaison.
- Conduct culturally competent violence prevention and legal rights workshops in partnership with communities and partner agencies; facilitates discussions.
- Coordinate data entry and data compilation ensuring programmatic compliance with funders’ requirements with service delivery and data collection.
- Gather research on best practices for program development with an emphasis on conflict resolution, culturally specific approaches, and court mediation; leads field implementation.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills and Competencies
Must Haves:
- 2 years of experience working in client-facing social services role.
- Sensitivity to all cultural backgrounds, religions, and nationalities.
- Great interpersonal and public speaking skills.
- Excellent written communication skills.
- Must be highly responsive, responsible, and punctual.
- Maintain a valid Driver’s license and insured vehicle.
- Computer competent in Outlook, Excel, Word
- Bachelor’s degree/equivalency preferred
- Pre-employment screenings:
- Required to pass a Level II Fingerprinting
- Background Check through DCF
- Pre-employment Drug Test Required
- Motor Vehicle Records Check.
Preferred:
- 2 years experience working in the domestic violence and/or criminal justice field.
- Supervisory experience preferred
- 1 year experience managing community-based social service programs.
- Knowledge of policies, laws, and legal resources available to victims of violence
- Experience working in multicultural communities with limited English proficiency.
- Knowledge of database management
