Overview

Ansible Government Solutions, LLC (Ansible) is currently recruiting multiple Pharmacists to support the VA Maryland Health Care System including the surrounding clinics primarily located at 10 N Greene St, Baltimore, MD 21201. If you accept employment with Ansible, you must also acknowledge that any assigned schedule is subject to change at the direction of either Ansible or its customers.

Responsibilities

  • Shall provide customer services or customer support services that include (but not limited to): Answering calls, emails, instant/secure/Health Connect Communication Tool messages, and/or
  • Shall provide vaccine handling, distribution, and administration support services per pharmacy regulations or guidance, that include:
  • Receiving vaccine when delivered from medical center
  • Store vaccine under proper conditions before use
  • Remove vaccine vials from storage and bring to room temperature
  • Prepare individual syringes for dosing vaccine, which includes dilute vaccine, draw up doses from multi-dose vaccine vial; label finished product with all pertinent information (lot number/expiration date and time, etc.); affix tamper evident cap; store finished product (syringe) appropriately before administration; coordinate with medical staff regarding number of patients and when patients are scheduled to receive doses in order to minimize “waste”; and document and report pertinent/required information regarding vaccine preparation and usage daily
  • Keep inventory of supplies and re-order when needed to maintain adequate par levels
  • Administering vaccinations, when necessary, and in accordance with pharmacy regulations and/or guidance
  • Reconstituting, preparing, and compounding commercial, non-routine and/or special formulation parenteral admixtures by means of adhering to current USP 797/800 standards
  • Ensuring that preparations are unaltered therapeutically by incompatible or interacting drugs
  • Preparing antineoplastic preparations (Chemo) and total parenteral nutritional solutions (TPNs) after training and competency is documented
  • Reviewing and evaluating laboratory data (e.g. electrolytes) and the medical charts of patients on TPN in the event adjustments are necessary in the formulation of the TPN prescribed by the provider
  • Checking IV admixtures prepared by pharmacy technicians, Pharmacy students and other nonlicensed personnel
  • Conducting weekly inventory of controlled substances stored in the IV room Omnicell
  • Shall provide outpatient window order processing/counseling services that include (but not limited to)
  • Positively identifying the patient presenting to the pharmacy for prescription processing according to VAMHCS policy. The pharmacist is to have the patient state their full name and last four numbers of their Social Security Number AND their date of birth
  • Reviewing the patient’s narrative field to verify approval for non-formulary medications and/or any other restrictions
  • Ensuring allergy assessment information is available prior to finishing any medication orders
  • Ensuring that the Patient Rx Status accurately corresponds to their eligibility
  • Reviewing, interpreting, and verifying all outpatient medications orders
  • Reviewing patient’s out-patient medication profile to assure that the medications are prescribed appropriately, in the correct dosage, and free of potential drug interactions or incompatibilities which could alter the desired or expected therapeutic response
  • Ensuing that there are no significant or critical interactions (without intervention documentation) with other drugs that the patient is currently taking, that there is not duplicative therapy, and the patient has no known allergy to the medications prescribed
  • Consulting patients, providing information and answering questions regarding their drug regimen, which includes advising patients of potential drug-related or health-related conditions which may develop from the use of the medication for which the patient should seek additional medical care as appropriate
  • Obtaining information from patients regarding the use of any non-VA provided medications or herbal products and documenting this information into CPRS and verifying any non-VA provided entries that are duplicating any VA provided medication

Requirements

  • US Citizen
  • Must be a graduate of an Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) accredited college or School of Pharmacy with a baccalaureate degree in Pharmacy (BS Pharmacy) and/or a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree
  • Full, current, and unrestricted license in any State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia when services are performed onsite on VA property
  • Must be licensed for controlled substances, with qualifications to practice in any states
  • No sponsorship available

All candidates must be able to:

  • Sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, and reach above shoulders during the work shift
  • Lift up to 50 lbs from floor to waist
  • Lift up to 20 lbs
  • Carry up to 40 lbs a reasonable distance
  • Push/pull with 30 lbs of force
