Job Summary
ARA is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced General Ledger Specialist with payroll experience to join our finance team. This role will be responsible for managing payroll processing, general ledger activities, and ensuring accurate and timely financial records. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in payroll systems, accounting principles, and compliance with federal and state regulations. The GL Specialist will play a key role in maintaining financial integrity and supporting the overall financial health of the organization.
Essential Functions

- Process bi-weekly payroll for all employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.
- Collaborate with HR and management to ensure accurate employee compensation, benefits, and deductions are processed.
- Maintain and update payroll-related data in the HRIS system, ensuring all employee information is up to date.
- Monitor and address payroll discrepancies, ensuring prompt resolution of any issues.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts and perform month-end and year-end close activities.
- Prepare journal entries and maintain accurate financial records for payroll and general ledger transactions.
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting of payroll tax filings, including federal, state, and local taxes.
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports for management, auditors, and regulatory agencies.
- Assist in audits by providing requested documentation and explanations related to payroll and general ledger transactions.
- Stay updated on federal, state, and local payroll tax laws, regulations, and compliance requirements.

Experience and Skills
- 3 years of experience in payroll processing and general ledger accounting.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and payroll tax regulations.
- Experience with payroll software (e.g., ADP) and accounting software (e.g., CostPoint).
- Knowledge of financial reporting and reconciliation processes.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.), with advanced Excel skills preferred.

Education
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (required)
