EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT FOR ACADEMIC AFFAIRS AND PROVOST

Reporting directly to the President and serving on the President’s Executive Cabinet, the Provost serves as the Chief Academic Officer of the university and works collaboratively with the President, Executive Vice Presidents, Vice Presidents, and Deans to further the academic mission with a focus upon faculty and student success. Serving as the institution’s Chief Academic Officer, the Provost will play a central role in enhancing academic excellence and aligning priorities within the university’s strategic plan. The Provost is responsible for the articulation of the university’s vision of academic distinction; the development and administration of academic programs; policies relating to instruction, curriculum, and distance learning; faculty and academic staff appointments and performance assessments; and scholarship and community service initiatives among faculty.     Required Qualifications :

  • Academic Credentials and Experience :
  • An earned doctorate or terminal degree from an accredited institution

  • A robust record of teaching, scholarship, and service sufficient for an appointment at the rank of full professor in one of the university’s departments
  • A minimum of ten years of higher education experience
  • Broad-based experience in academic administration, preferably at the dean level or above, ideally within an institution affiliated with an academic health center, and experience with undergraduate teaching / programming
  • Leadership and Management Skills :
  • Strong fiscal acumen and experience with strategic resource planning and allocation

  • Proven experience in leading change, strategic planning, vision-casting, and implementing growth initiatives
  • A strategic and forward-thinking mindset, with a “builder” mentality

    Augusta University fields teams in NCAA Division I men's and women's golf, and the men's team claimed back-to-back national championships in 2010 and 2011. In a number of other sports, the Jaguars compete in the Peach Belt Conference in Division II in basketball (AU men’s basketball has had 9 NCAA Tournament appearances and 3 Elite Eights), baseball, cross-country, softball, volleyball, tennis, and outdoor track and field.
