The role involves day-to-day tasks related to cost management, construction estimating, communication, project estimation, and budgeting for Site, Concrete, Demo, and Excavation Projects in the local Philadelphia area.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and/or assist in accurate cost estimates for materials, labor, and equipment.
- Participate in pre-bid meetings and site visits to assess project conditions and identify potential challenges or opportunities.
- Analyze and interpret project plans and specifically read and understand job bid instructions and detailed specifications.
- Prepare a "take-off" of materials and quantities included in the job.
- Determine specific job requirements and the necessary equipment and labor.
- Prepare a bid proposal letter with qualifications.
- Collaborate with field workers, project managers, architects, and subcontractors throughout the project lifecycle.
- Monitor and maintain project costs throughout the construction process.
- Keep up with any cost or scope changes during projects.
- Maintain and update estimating databases with historical cost records.
- Continuously improve and advance our internal Estimating/PM software processes and incorporate new industry technologies.
Qualifications:
- For the Estimator/Project Manager an ideal candidate should possess minimum 5-10 years of experience in the Site, Concrete, Demo, or Excavation Construction Industry.
- For the Assistant Estimator/Project Manager ideal candidates should possess minimum 2-5 years of experience in the Site, Concrete, Demo, or Excavation Construction Industry.
- Knowledge of construction methods, materials, and local Philadelphia industry standards.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction documents.
- Ability to assemble scope of work with all required information, including inclusions, exclusions, and qualifications.
- Strong mathematical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work effectively within a team and communicate with all involved parties.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Proficient in Bluebeam, Planswift, or similar takeoff/document management software.
- Experience using Bid 2 Win (B2W) software is a plus.
