Position Description
POSITION TITLE: School Counselor
QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum of master’s degree in School Counseling, and School Counseling PreK-12 (487) Tennessee Teacher Certification.
REPORTS TO: Principal and/or Elementary Supervisor
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 10 month (200 days) with benefits
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Work with students in grades PreK-6 in the developmental processes in intellectual, social and personal growth and assist them in making informed and individually appropriate social, educational and career choices.
- Provide training and orientation sessions for students, parents and faculty.
- Provide individual and small group counseling as needed
- Participate in parent-teacher-student conferences.
- Have additional duties as assigned by the MCE principal.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Abide by state statutes, school board policies and regulations.
- Attend meetings and performs duties as assigned by administrators.
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
- Serve on committees as assigned.
- Remain current on practices for school counselors.
Salary : $49,090
