As a Design Job Captain on AO’s Multifamily/Mixed-Use Design team, you will play a key role in the early phases of architectural design, supporting projects from site planning through entitlements. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented and passionate design professional eager to work across a wide range of multifamily housing products, including high-density market-rate, affordable housing, stick-built, and modular developments.
You will collaborate closely with project designers and managers to develop design drawings, 3D models, and graphic presentations while ensuring consistency, quality, and coordination across deliverables.
Key Responsibilities:
- Contribute to schematic design and site planning efforts.
- Assist in producing and coordinating plans, elevations, sections, and presentation graphics.
- Support the development of 3D models and visualizations.
- Help set up and maintain design drawing sets.
- Collaborate with other disciplines to ensure coordinated design documentation.
- Participate in the cartooning and development of drawing sets using AO standards.
- Research relevant codes, ordinances, and guidelines to support design decisions.
- Understand and contribute to the required deliverables of each design phase.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience in multifamily architecture.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite.
- Strong graphic, visual, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate in a team environment and take initiative.
- Working knowledge of planning and building codes
Education & Licensure:
- 4-year Architectural degree and/or combination of required education and experience.
- California architectural license (preferred but not required).
Salary : $36 - $40
