We are seeking an experienced Senior Payroll Manager to lead our client's payroll operations for a large workforce. This role plays a pivotal part in ensuring timely and accurate payroll processing, maintaining compliance with federal and multi-state labor regulations, and strengthening internal controls and processes. You ll be instrumental in supporting key financial operations, overseeing system implementations, and leading a high-performing payroll team.

Core Responsibilities
Lead day-to-day payroll operations, ensuring precise processing of employee compensation, benefits deductions, garnishments, and tax withholdings.
Manage payroll cycles for multiple entities, overseeing weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly payroll runs, annual W-2 generation, and compliance with all relevant tax requirements.
Serve as the payroll subject matter expert, maintaining compliance with applicable labor laws and staying current on regulatory changes.
Develop and maintain internal policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and documentation related to payroll operations.
Ensure accurate payroll data integration with timekeeping systems and benefit providers.
Oversee system testing, upgrades, and enhancements related to Payroll and Time & Attendance platforms.
Provide leadership in payroll system implementation projects and cross-functional collaborations with HR, IT, and departmental stakeholders.
Monitor payroll-related general ledger accounts and support reconciliation and reporting as part of the month-end and year-end close processes.
Supervise, mentor, and develop payroll team members, creating cross-training plans and performance feedback loops.
Drive continuous improvement efforts for greater accuracy, efficiency, and user experience in payroll operations.
Support budget forecasting and labor cost analysis through detailed reporting and collaboration with finance leadership.
Leadership Responsibilities
Recruit, onboard, and coach payroll team members.
Set performance goals, provide regular feedback, and foster professional development.
Act as an escalation point for complex or sensitive payroll inquiries.
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field.
Experience:
Minimum of 6 years in a payroll management role, with direct oversight of multi-state payroll processes and team leadership.
Proven experience with large-scale payroll platforms and timekeeping systems, such as ADP, Kronos, or Oracle.
Preferred:
Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) credential.
Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, macros, and data analysis.
Experience working in healthcare or similarly regulated environments.
Skills & Competencies
