Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Essex MD is seeking highly qualified candidates for a Middle School Language Arts teacher for the 2024-2025 school year. Our ELA Teachers would be responsible for all curriculum instruction for grades 6-8. The ability to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all students is imperative. The teacher also should be knowledgeable regarding technology integration in lessons.
Essential Functions
- Follows and maintains knowledge of all AOB policies and procedures.
- Implement lesson plans utilizing a variety of techniques to motivate, challenge, and engage students.
- Plan and execute an instructional program that upholds the values and ideals of the Catholic Church and the mission of Our Lady of Mount Carmel.
- Create an instructional environment conducive to learning that is appealing and organized.
- Responsible for the safety and active supervision of students at all times, and for classroom management using PBIS (positive behavior intervention and support) protocols.
- Interact effectively and respond to all parent communication in a professional, empathetic, and timely manner.
- Communicate standards, achievements, and deficiencies to students and parents through email, phone calls, conferences, and an electronic grade book on a weekly basis.
- Maintain high professional standards consistent with the mission of Our Lady of Mount Carmel and the teachings of the Catholic Church.
- Safely and actively supervise students both inside and outside of the classroom.
- Work collaboratively with other teachers, staff, and administration to plan, implement, and evaluate the instructional program.
- Expertly integrate G Suite for Education into a 21st Century classroom.
- Meet the needs, interests, and abilities of students in accordance with the curriculum. Effective instruction will include differentiated learning.
- Attend all faculty meetings, professional development, grade level, and curriculum meetings.
- Attend graduation, open houses, and other “after hour” activities as requested.
- Serve on various committees.
- Comply with applicable AOB, state, local and federal laws, rules, and regulations.
- Perform various non-teaching related duties such as recess, lunch, arrival, dismissal, etc.
Position Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in education, ELA, or a related field
- MSDE teacher certification preferred
- Knowledge of curriculum, and principles and practices of pedagogy
- Must be proficient in using a variety of technology during daily lessons as well as to enrich and differentiate instruction
- Employment is contingent upon acceptable results of a state and federal fingerprint background check, completion of VIRTUS Training, and completion of all necessary paperwork
Range: 45,000 or higher, depending on certification
