Job Summary:
The Safety Coordinator is responsible for implementing and maintaining workplace safety programs to ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company policies at our manufacturing facility. This role involves conducting safety training, performing audits, investigating incidents, and promoting a strong culture of safety among employees. Bilingual (English/Spanish) candidates are highly preferred to effectively communicate safety procedures with our diverse workforce.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop, implement, and enforce safety policies and procedures in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations (OSHA, EPA, etc.).
- Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions.
- Lead safety training programs, including new hire orientation, toolbox talks, and specialized training on topics such as lockout/tagout (LOTO), machine guarding, PPE, and emergency response.
- Investigate workplace accidents, near misses, and safety concerns; document findings, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain safety records, including injury logs, training documentation, and compliance reports.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for safety-related matters and provide guidance to employees and management.
- Assist in workers’ compensation case management by coordinating with Human Resources and medical providers.
- Ensure proper use and maintenance of personal protective equipment (PPE) and other safety gear.
- Foster a culture of safety by encouraging employee involvement, safety committees, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Stay up to date with industry best practices and regulatory changes to enhance workplace safety.
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field preferred.
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in a safety-related role within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Certifications: OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred; CPR/First Aid certification a plus.
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and workplace safety standards.
- Excellent communication and training skills.
- Ability to conduct safety investigations and implement corrective actions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for documentation and reporting.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) highly preferred to effectively train and communicate with Spanish-speaking employees.
