SUMMARY
Provide appropriate medical treatment and personal care services to ill, injured, and disabled persons in schools by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Assess injuries or illnesses of students and staff; provide appropriate care.
Perform basic first aid.
Assess immunization requirements and administer appropriate immunizations as needed.
Administer specified medication, orally or by subcutaneous or intermuscular injection. Record time(s) and amount(s) on students' charts.
Observe patients and record adverse reactions to medication or treatment. Report adverse reactions to principal and parents.
Perform routine health screenings (vision, hearing and lice) on students.
Sterilize equipment and supplies.
Inventory and requisition supplies.
Keep an accurate records of students' information regarding vaccinations and tests.
Prepare reports.
Perform other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly supervises 1-2 Health Aides. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the district’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include planning, assigning, and directing work; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
