Overview:
Perform the clerical duties of the inpatient units. Acts as the receptionist and assists with the maintenance of documentation, supplies, and equipment.
ESSENTIAL/CORE JOB-SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Audits and flags charts to ensure all items on admission log are completed and filed; all other paperwork is accurately and completely filled out in accordance with Client Record Handbook Standards. Ensures correct chart order, the presence of patient labels on all forms; forms are complete and correct; adds new forms as needed; notifies appropriate staff of necessary corrective action on a daily basis. Makes labels for client records as needed. Ensures prompt filing of patient information (e.g., labs, assessments, consults, etc.) in patient records.
- Completes final audit, removes flags; ensures correct order, delivers chart to Medical Records within 48 hours) of discharge.
- Inventories and orders unit supplies (forms, linens, nursing supplies, office supplies, patient hygiene items, etc.). Passes supplies out to patients if needed.
- Contacts maintenance via work orders regarding safety issues. Contacts housekeeping regarding unit cleanliness as needed to maintain unit order and sanitation.
Education/Experience:
- A high school diploma or its equivalent.
- One (1) year of related work experience.
- Ability to type at least 35 correct words per minute.
