APEL Extrusions is an independent extruder, finisher and fabricator of aluminum extrusions serving the commercial, residential, and industrial markets of Western Canada and the Western United States. With facilities in Calgary Canada, Coburg Oregon, and a new, greenfield facility in Phoenix Arizona, APEL Extrusions is a fully integrated extruder with six extrusion presses, (2 in Calgary and 3 in Oregon and 1 in Phoenix) and a full array of finishing capabilities occupying over 600,000 square feet of modern manufacturing space employing approximately 250 people.

APEL Extrusions has an immediate requirement for a qualified Production Control, Logistics and Supply Chain Manager in its new Phoenix, Arizona facility.
Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Production Control Manager has direct responsibility to schedule and forecast the right volumes of materials, goods and products inbound to the business from its supply chain companies. The incumbent will be responsible for keeping inventories stocked and assessing the requirements of the workplace to formulate solutions when dealing with the supply of materials, goods, equipment, and various other logistical needs. The Manager plays an integral role in ensuring the maximum productivity and optimized material/product delivery with careful planning and inventory management. The incumbent will manage the flow of work and materials from customer order to product shipment ensuring everything is delivered per the customer schedule at the most productive method possible.
Nature and Scope:
- Provide overall leadership and strategic direction to material planning, production scheduling and product shipment.
- Apply knowledge in capacity planning, supply/demand systems to drive disciplined systems, robust processes, and focused standardization of best practices.
- Provide overall leadership and strategic planning for the facilities Sales & Operating Plans while balancing capacities, schedules, and material flow for all operating departments.
- Develop and implement tools to evaluate inventory levels and recommend strategies for inventory control. Ensure efficient and effective deployment/utilization of asset levels to meet demand.
- Develop and implement capacity optimization tools to perform strategic sourcing and capacity planning.
- Identify, negotiate, and resolve conflicts with respect to material and capacity availability and order-promising integrity.
- Consult with the Operations/Plant Manager, material suppliers, and workforce supervisors to obtain information, secure materials or give instructions with regards to the needs of an order.
- Manage logistics personnel and all logistics systems to ensure all product is delivered per customer requirements at the lowest cost for the company.
General duties are to:
- Work with Department Managers to ensure appropriate scheduling and availability of resources to meet all production plans.
- Distribute production schedules and work orders to departments.
- Review documents, such as production schedules, work orders, and staffing tables, to determine personnel and material requirements.
- Requisition and maintain inventories of materials and supplies necessary to meet production demands.
- Arrange for delivery, assembly, or distribution of supplies and products to expedite flow of materials and meet customer requirements.
- Direct all inbound and outbound logistics with detailed planning and routing.

- Knowledge of principles and methods for moving people or goods by air, rail, sea, or road, including the relative costs and benefits.
Compensation:

Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree, or other relevant experience
- Minimum of 5 years experience in a manufacturing / plant environment.
- Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experienced in extrusion and extrusion finishing processes.
- Contemporary scheduling and materials management knowledge including MRP, Demand Flow, JIT, Forecasting, Inventory Planning, Logistics, and Supply Chain design.
