Your Role
As a Senior Test Automation Engineer, you will be pivotal in advancing Aperia Technologies’ internal Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing initiative while contributing to the broader platform engineering team. This role demands strong expertise in test automation, IoT systems, and cloud platforms, ensuring that our Halo Connect™ ecosystem maintains the highest reliability, scalability, and performance standards. Ideal candidates will have a robust background in software engineering, automation frameworks, and cloud technologies, allowing them to contribute effectively across testing and platform engineering initiatives. Your contributions will directly impact the quality, performance, and operational efficiency of Halo Connect™ and Aperia Technologies’ IoT platform.
This is an onsite position located in our Grand Rapids Office.
Functions and Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain automated test frameworks for Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) and software validation.
- Design and implement robust, scalable, and reliable test automation solutions for IoT device integration and cloud services.
- Enhance platform stability, scalability, and performance by implementing automated test coverage for APIs and infrastructure components.
- Integrate test automation into CI/CD pipelines to ensure continuous firmware, software, and cloud service verification.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (firmware, platform engineering, and product teams) to ensure seamless validation of IoT devices.
- Implement automation tools to drive efficiency in test execution, results analysis, and defect tracking.
- Monitor system health, proactively identifying issues and working closely with platform engineers to enhance resilience.
- Provide technical mentorship to engineers on best practices in automated testing and software quality assurance.
- Evaluate and adopt new technologies to continuously improve automation and testing strategies.
- Investigate and resolve complex technical issues in collaboration with the support and engineering teams.
Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (equivalent experience considered).
- 6 years of experience in test automation and/or platform engineering.
- Expertise in developing and maintaining test automation frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Robot Framework, PyTest, TestNG, or custom-built solutions).
- Strong programming proficiency in Python, C, C , or JavaScript.
- Experience with IoT systems, embedded device testing, and cloud-based automation.
- Familiarity with AWS services (AWS IoT, Lambda, Kinesis, S3, and other cloud-native architectures).
- Hands-on experience in CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or AWS CodePipeline.
- Experience with hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing frameworks and methodologies.
- Strong analytical skills for troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a cross-functional team environment.
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect or equivalent experience is a plus.
Pay Range: $110,000 - $125,000
*Base salary only. Salary is dependent on multiple factors including, but not limited to, experience and location.
**Additional compensation may include equity, bonuses, stipends, medical, dental, vision, 401(k), and long-term disability insurance.
