The Mill Operator Level I,II/III w/5 Axis Experience position is responsible for set-up and operation of the 5 Axis CNC in compliance with inch and metric drawing specifications. Demonstrated abilities to read engineered drawings set up and operate manual mills and lathes, ability to troubleshoot and perform more complex variety of machining skills. Set up and operate CNC Vertical Mill to inch and metric drawing specifications. Lead person responsibilities.
$22/hr-$29/hr DOE. *2nd shift M-TH, 2:15pm-12:45am
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Set up and operate 5 Axis CNC to machine flat, contoured and formed parts to inch and metric drawing specifications.
- Act as technical resource regarding tooling and machining capabilities.
- Evaluate and justify new tooling and machining processes.
- Communicate issues relating to work orders, programming errors, material shortages or errors.
- Continuous focus on reduction of material, labor and scrap.
- Learn, comprehend and apply manufacturing safety practices.
- Responsible to manage products and processes.
- Perform minor maintenance activities as required by the preventive maintenance program.
- Continued education and training including, but not limited to: ISO 9001, safety, blueprint reading, teamwork, and Statistical Process Control.
- Maintain cleanliness of work area.
- Accurately record labor time for job tracking.
- Present a professional image in accordance with company appearance standards.
- Demonstrate good judgment and decision-making skills.
- Demonstrate & Promote Safety in accordance with company policy
- Mentor and train Machinist I, II, III
- Able to take lead on large projects from beginning to completion.
- Interact with engineers on design of parts
- Advise on corrective actions that need to be taken
- Document Red lines
- Perform R&D work as directed
- Other duties as assigned.
- Full-time attendance is required
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
- High school degree or equivalent with two to three years’ experience or AA degree in Machine Technology. Good math skills in trigonometry.
- Demonstrated ability to perform lead person responsibilities in an effective, productive, professional and positive manner.
- Demonstrated ability to machine various plastics including WPP, NPP, FRPP, Polycarbonate, PVC, Acrylic, UHMW, Delrin, PTFE, PFA, and PVDF and other materials as they come up including metals.
- Demonstrated ability to machine to .005 tolerance.
- Able to use rotary table and divider head mill vise.
- Demonstrated ability to perform tooling designs.
- Demonstrated ability to use inspection tooling to measure and verify dimensions.
- Must be able to read and interpret engineered drawings in metric, decimal and fractional inch units.
- Ability to read and interpret Bill of Materials.
- Able to maintain and inspect tooling.
- Demonstrated ability to set up manual machine using appropriate tooling and fixtures.
- Demonstrated ability to operate manual mill and lathe.
- Demonstrated ability with troubleshooting skills.
- Demonstrated ability to set up CNC machine loading programs, tools, fixtures and setting tool offsets.
- Demonstrated ability to use and read precision measuring devices in thousandths.
- Demonstrated ability to identify various cutting tools and materials utilized.
- Able to perform more complex variety of machining skills.
- Demonstrated skills in a minimum of one other discipline (cross-trained).
- Ability to CNC Program.
- Ability to work in a team environment and be a contributing member.
- Good hand eye coordination and attention to detail. Ability to carefully handle fragile products, perform repetitive tasks, and demonstrate safety awareness.
- Able to maintain and inspect functional tooling.
- Must be able to read and understand machine codes.
- Demonstrated ability to deburr parts.
- Must be able to lift and carry products weighing up to 35 pounds from staging area to CNC Mill.
