What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Lab Technician position at Apex Life Sciences?
We are recruiting for a Quality Lab Technician near the Batavia, NY area. This is an entry level opportunity and recent grads will gladly be accepted. Testing will include: microbiological, chemical and physical testing of incoming raw materials, work in process and finished goods.
Responsibilities:
Pull samples and test all inventory for quality of products. Rerun quality testing if any out of limit conditions are present or testing results are not within certain parameters. Enter all testing results into the internal laboratory management system.
Print out Tank Status sheets and check temperatures of Tanks; report to supervisor if temperatures are off.
Test raw blends as needed. Make alterations if necessary and retest. Record results.
Finished product checking. (Fats, solids, pH, Viscosities, Fruit testing, Temperature etc.) Record all results, recheck if necessary.
Perform shelf life studies as time permits. Record result.
Dispose of sample product and back up inventory following proper protocols.
Autoclave equipment and make sure spore control is run weekly.
Perform swab testing for startup on equipment (fillers and vats) to verify sterility.
Perform various Titrations.
Prepare weekly whey composite samples for analysis.
Plate samples and complete matching paperwork, as well as update all files related to samples.
Requirements:
Qualified candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree or Associate’s degree in Science with basic chemistry, biology, or microbiology
Previous food testing background preferred.
Knowledge of GMP’s and SPC plating a plus.
