Under the close supervision of the Recreation Coordinator, this position is responsible for providing quality instruction of competitive strokes and skills through proper technique, creativity, and engagement of the swimmers. Create a swim team
Ensuring safety of all students in the class is essential, as well as creating a positive and fun learning environment.
Developing age-appropriate swim programs and planning, directing, and supervising practices. Create varied workouts andbe able to teach correct competitive strokes using various swimming techniques, drills, and games.
Monitor pool activities during swim meets and practices.
Evaluates individual and team performance, explains techniques, and assists with skills improvement. Attend and participate in staff meetings, in-service training, orientations, and emergency drills.
Hours: Work week and working hours will vary with assignments Monday – Thursday 5:30-7:30pm and some Saturdays and Sunday practices and swim meets.

- Must be at least 16 years old.
- Must possess general knowledge of competitive swimming equipment such as pace clocks, lane ropes, instructional tools (i.e.: kickboards, pull buoys).
- Excellent customer service skills are a must.
- Applicants must be energetic, dynamic, and self-motivated. Must be comfortable talking to children and adults
- Must have at least 1 year of previous coaching experience.
- Safety Training for Swim Coaches Certification preferred.
- USA Swimming or nationally recognized coaching or swim instructing certification preferred.
- CPR/First Aid/AED required within 30 days of employment.
- Working environment will be hot/humid, cool/damp, wet and noisy. 95% of the work is done primarily in a hot, humid environment. During summer months, work may be at an outdoor facility and will include exposure to all types of weather.
- Exposure to chemically treated water for a minimum of 2 hours per day.
- Must be able to work in an environment with poor acoustics and an array of distractions, i.e., music, weather conditions, etc.
- Requires ability to recognize and respond to sounds/signals of distress.
- Requires ability to sit, stand, knee, crouch, walk and reach with arms for extended periods of time and speak loudly.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
