What are the responsibilities and job description for the Computer Aided Design Drafter position at Apex Systems?
Responsibilities
- Prepare CAD drawings of components, assemblies, and process engineering change orders from given data such as previous drawings, layouts, detailed sketches, notes, verbal instructions and standard references.
- Produce CAD drawings depicting computing network wiring installations with details such as types of cables, cable penetration points in the ship’s hull, paths taken for each cable, and connection points.
- Researches data required to complete accurately the engineering data depicted on an engineering drawing including previous drawings, project notes, sketches and field checks.
- Improves the drawing process by using the provided CADD software and hardware to develop software routines that automate tasks.
- Manage the documentation and design process for new products, ensuring designs are accurate and compliant.
- Perform validation and quality assurance functions to ensure final product meets design specifications and functions correctly.
- Produce rough sketches and detailed CAD drawings for new parts and assemblies.
- Use CAD software to create technical designs that meet project specifications.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure design accuracy and functionality.
- Work with engineering and production teams to ensure that designs meet project and manufacturing requirements.
- Review plans and figures for technical accuracy, consistency, and drafting standard compliance.
- Implement and maintain quality control procedures to ensure all CAD work meets industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Support the development of simulation and analysis models as required.
- Conceptualize, design and communicate successfully in CAD using current industry standards.
- Contributes to technical designs and documentation
Requirements
- 3 years of experience creating technical drawings and plans using computer-aided design (CAD) software
- 2 years of experience with AutoCAD or Visio generating computer network diagrams or drawings
- Must have an Active DoD Security Clearance
- Strong understanding of aerospace and defense engineering principles, materials, and manufacturing processes
- Familiar or have some knowledge with standards outlining requirements for military shipboard drawings such as DoD-STD-100, Mil-STD-31000, and various NAVSEA drawing standards (Preferred)
