PURPOSE
The CAD/CAM Designer will be well versed in computer aided design (preferably Inventor) and computer aided manufacturing (Mastercam). The person in this position will be required to interface with both engineering and manufacturing on a daily basis.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
- Execute CAM procedures (toolpath programming for both milling and turning
- Design hard CNC work-holding fixtures (i.e. aluminum, steel)
- Design and create soft work-holding fixtures for secondary processes and CMM measuring
SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
- Use design software to produce 2D and/or 3D designs
- Research material properties in large databases to identify the best materials for modeling
- Address limitations of technologies and materials involved in the CAD process
- Incorporate feedback into 3D model designs
- Revise models as requested
- Run simulations and stress-tests on all 3D models before prototyping
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Education: Associate technical degree. Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering preferred
- Work History: 5 years as a power CAD user
- Mastercam experience with Mill 3D and turning (single spindle)
- Ability to analyze G-Code
- CAD, 3D modeling, preferably Inventor
- Work-holding design experience
- Experience in manufacturing, preferably with CNC
- Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication
- Process oriented, sense of urgency, attention to detail
- Strong problem-solving skills
PREFFERED SKILLS
- Direct experience with 3D printing
- Direct experience with measurement methods, preferably manual and with CMM machines
- Mastercam 5-axis milling
- Master Turning (Dual-Spindle)
