What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Technician position at Apex Systems?
Apex Systems is looking to add a Quality Technician to our food manufacturing client's team located in Hebron, KY. This opportunity offers a great chance to gain some entry-level lab experience in a manufacturing setting. We're looking to screen and submit qualified candidates as soon as possible!
Summary:
The primary function of this position is to support manufacturing through the evaluation and approval of raw materials and finished products using sensory and instrumental test methods. The Quality Technician also supports regulatory functions relating to raw material documentation and kosher certification.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Perform routine analysis of liquid raw materials and flavors using a density meter and refractometer
- Perform flash point testing of liquid manufactured flavors
- Perform water activity testing of powders
- Prepare tasting solutions
- Record test results in ERP and written records
- Maintain lab stock of solvents and chemicals
- Prepare products for sensory panels for quality purposes
- Coordinate finished product documentation between Manufacturing and Quality
- Maintain files of raw material certificates of analysis
- Maintain files of finished product batch records and work orders
- Maintain files of sales orders
- Responsible for the storage and maintenance of raw material and finished product retain samples
- Maintain lab areas in a clean and orderly manner
- Maintain laboratory equipment and perform calibrations as needed
- Understanding of food safety practices; applying them to laboratory activities
- Follows food safety and food defense procedures, as instructed and required
- Support site Food Safety and Quality Policy, including the site Food Safety Culture
- Perform other related duties and assignments as required
Skills and Abilities:
- Verbal and written skills
- Detail oriented
- Computer proficiency
- Ability to accurately see, taste and smell
- Thorough understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices
Education/Experience:
- High school degree or Associates degree, preferable experience in a lab environment
