JOB DESCRIPTION

Apex is seeking a dynamic Senior Lead Consultant with strong consultative skills to serve as a hands-on technical leader with a background as an Azure Solution Architect in the US & Canada practice within Apex Systems Solutions Delivery Organization. The successful candidate will play a critical role in the design and implementation of a modern Microsoft Azure tenant and have a passion for the Microsoft tech stack and products. There are many hats you may wear as you lead clients whose ecosystems is mainly in the Microsoft tech stack but this role is essential for deciphering the existing architecture and designing future architecture, providing thought leadership and guidance to clients, teammates, and other Apex consultants. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Azure cloud solutions and a strong background in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) or willingness to learn quickly and be adaptable in various environments. This role will also provide technical subject matter expertise. Additionally, this role will be responsible for client deliverables as well as internal leadership of technical consulting professionals.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Partner with stakeholders to reverse engineer the existing Azure Tenant.
• Analyze the IaC code utilized and map the requirements to a new Azure Tenant.
• Aid in the tenant build-out following proper Azure best practices.
• Build required IaC modules, repositories, and pipelines to migrate a massive Databricks environment.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure the architecture meets business and technical requirements.
• Provide technical guidance and support throughout the project lifecycle.
• Build strong internal and external customer relationships.
• Demonstrate expert-level technical knowledge and implementation skills. Serve as a subject matter expert. Build trust and respect among internal and external stakeholders and model collaborative teamwork.
• Work with non-technical stakeholders to translate functional requirements to detailed technical tasks for the development team to implement.
• Demonstrate a passion for quality and process improvement. Work with the development team to succeed.
• Demonstrate professional-level consulting skills, leadership skills, and communication/presentation skills. Demonstrate adaptability and flexibility to acquire skills to meet business needs.
• Participate in supporting sales pursuits by providing technical guidance, estimates, scoping and other pre-sales activities. Continually innovate, seek creative solutions, and find new ways of adding value. Listen and seek to understand the client and meet their needs, providing consultative guidance. Stay attuned to the future needs of the client and work with internal resources to identify opportunities. Proactively offer solutions and approach adversity with a solution-focused mindset.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• 10 years of Software Development and Engineering Experience (SDLC)
• 6 years of hands-on experience in Azure architecture
• The following skills are required:
• Must be willing to be a player/coach.
• Proven experience as an Azure Solution Architect or similar role.
• Strong understanding of Azure services and best practices.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or Bicep.
• Proficiency in designing and implementing Azure environments.
• Experience with DataOps pipelines and integrating data workflows.
• Experience in setting up new tenants with new security requirements and networking configurations.
• Quickly deciphering current state and environing future state architectures.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills and growth mindset.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, navigating high pressure, challenging situations professionally and with poise.

The following skills are preferred:

Previous client-facing/consulting experience

Experience with large-scale data migrations using Databricks or a similar tool.

Certifications in Azure (e.g., Azure Solutions Architect Expert).

High level of independence and autonomy required

Positive relationship builder, able to navigate through complex situations to ensure the most robust and pragmatic solution.

Strong problem solving skills, analytical skills and the aptitude to quickly identify gaps and risks.

Excellent written and spoken communication skills, including presenting complex concepts to engineering, business partners.

BA/BS preferred in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, or related fields (applicable education and experience may be substituted).
