Position: Senior Controls Engineer
Location: Orlando, FL
Duration : Full-time
Rate Range?: $100-125k
Position Overview:
Apex is working with a client to fill a senior-level Controls Engineer role. This client works in the materials handling industry supporting customers looking to implement automated warehouse solutions.
Must be fluent in Rockwell/Siemens. Must be Rockwell expert, solid in Siemens too but less important of the two. Good electrical background. Opening is due to the fact they are close to landing some large projects - needs more manpower to cover this business. Brand new electrical design standards and new programming standards. Traveling 30% between US and Canada. 1-2 weekends in a row, then brought back for a break from the travel.

Day to Day Responsibilities/typical day look like:
- This person will be doing PLC programming (Siemens and/or Rockwell experience) with some HMI programming. They do have a separate group that does the HMI programming on a higher level BUT if they have just a HMI at machine level that needs programmed then his team does that.
- They are moving everything to Rockwell programming.
- This person is responsible for working with the electrical team. They prepare the software ahead of time and they'll be responsible for going to the job site to do the testing of the software for the final go live.
- This person needs to be personable and good with customers since they do client facing/supporting the customer.
- This work is staged so they'll be onsite from Thurs-Mon. or Thurs-Tues and then a few weeks out they may be go back when its time to test everything.
- They'll do the electrical installations first.
- Brown Field- retrofit existing systems.
- Green Field- install new systems and test them (easier work compared to brown field).
- Usually this person is given two major projects/year. They'll be working 6 weekends for one project the 6 weekends for the other project. (If they work Sat. Sun. they can pick two days to take off the following week OR some are stacking this and using them for vacation time instead of using their personal days OR he is waiting to get the approval to earn extra money by working the weekend and the days during the week).

- 5 years of experience as a Controls Engineer
