As a Nurse Assistant on our Surgical Team, you’ll play a direct role in helping animals heal and thrive. You don’t need years of experience — just heart, drive, and a passion for veterinary care. We’ll teach you the rest.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
You'll be the backbone of the Apex surgical experience — supporting patients, doctors, and fellow techs in a high-quality, low-drama environment.
Patient Care & Support

Safely restrain animals for exams, procedures, and treatment

Monitor post-op patients and take vitals (TPR)

Assist in feeding, bathing, and cleaning — and yes, the occasional anal gland expression
Tech Tasks & Training

Perform venipuncture and basic lab tests

Prep and process samples for outside labs
-
Take X-rays and remove sutures/staples
-
Clean, wrap, and sterilize surgical tools and gowns
Surgical & Teamwork Duties

Scrub into surgeries and assist as needed

Maintain surgical and exam rooms

Help other departments as needed to elevate care across the hospital

Restock and assist with inventory

Qualifications
WHAT YOU BRING

High school diploma or GED
-
Some vet experience preferred (but not required!)
-
A calm, compassionate, can-do attitude
-
Willingness to learn, laugh, and lift (up to 40 lbs)

Basic computer skills

Team-first mindset and strong communication

Overtime and some Saturdays may be required

Weekend/holiday on-call rotations may occur
